![]() SpainChrisAnn and I are back from our trip to Espana and we have some wines to share with you. They mix the old with the new... ![]() We tasted Mo in Toledo. This is a QPR blockbuster red with fresh, clean fruit, notes of raspberry and black pepper. Medium bodied with balanced tannins, this is a flat out winner from Spain. Wine Advocate 90 pts. Only $14.99 - please drop by and taste it - it will blow away anything at the supermarket at the same price point. We tasted this wine at Bodegas Juan Gil in Jumilla. Atalaya Almansa has the QPR of Mo and a Wine Advocate score of 91: "It has an expressive bouquet of violets, spice box, leather, game, blueberry, and black cherry. On the palate it comes off as borderline kinky and definitely sexy with lots of easy-going flavor, superb depth, complexity, and a 45-second finish." Only $15.99 - please drop by and taste it. One of the wineries that invited us to Jumilla, Juan Gil, was a memorable visit. Their namesake wine has been a favorite of mine and has the following wine advocate score history: 2006: 91, 2005: 90+, 2004: 90, 2003: 91, 2002: 91 - pretty good for a $15.99 bottle of wine. The vineyards also produce CLIO and EL NIDO - wines that have quickly achieved cult status and sell in out in days. ![]() The wine that compelled us to this part of Spain is Pago Del Ama Syrah. It's expensive but it is one of the best Syrah wines we have ever tasted. It will be on the tasting flight along with the other wines above. Taste something unique - you may never have another chance. Parker says: "Considered by some to be the greatest Syrah made in Spain, the proprietor of one of that country’s finest restaurants, Adolfo Munoz, produces this extraordinarily rich, intense effort...This heady, intoxicating Syrah boasts abundant quantities of flavor as well as body." Next WeekI hope some of you will join us for a chance to explore central France next Wednesday. We've sponsored these opportunities to help you expand your knowledge of wine.
